Behind the Scenes

Creating “Now That I Love You” & “Body and Soul”

These are two songs I worked on with Milk Dee and Jeff Smith. They gave me the tracks and the lyrics. I learned the songs and came to the studio ready to record them for the album, we were about to shoot the music video for “Body & Soul,” but things didn’t pan out. I took it upon myself, found a video producer, Seidule Films, and shot two videos, both were shot in port Allen, Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Using imagination and creativity allowed the music to guide and create the images. We put both our visions together and created these videos. It was truly a labor of love.

There were a few challenges with creating these two videos as it compares to a live show. When you are singing live, you are on the stage, there is ample distance between you and your audience. But when you are shooting a music video, the audience is up-close and personal. They can see everything, every crinkle, every tear and it’s on you to make it real, make it believable. Especially with a love song, there is no hiding, there is no faking it, you bare your raw self to the camera for the song. Timing is also a big deal, everything has to gel. You definitely have to perform, you are bringing the essence and the emotion of the lyrics to life on camera. What was TMarvin’s approach? He sang from the heart, from his feelings, from his core and from his soul. He was real, he was sincere, he took from his own experiences, it came through the camera and manifested itself in the video. People need to feel the words and the emotions that TMarvin is singing, letting them resonate within, the final cut of the video captured that level of depth to where people can truly relate and feel the energy of the song you are singing, the message you are delivering.

“Now That I Love You”

Scenes were shot inside the video producer’s home, downtown at the river center and at the levee that runs throughout Mississippi and Louisiana. The intention of the song is that you are with your companion, significant other, have been dating for a period of time and it is now that you truly love the person you are with, you see them as your other half. With all this time we have been together, I feel the love, that inner soul to where I can really and truly say, I love you. “Now that I love you, let me tell you how I feel.” This song has so much power, so much emotion and when you’re in love with somebody and your expressing your feelings and your emotions. “Now that I love you” is letting your significant other know that you are solely and truly in love with them and the amount of love you have for them is insurmountable.

“Body and Soul”

Scenes were shot inside the video producer’s garage. The intention of the song is that you and your companion, significant other are entwining as one. You love everything that the other person is, their breath, the air that they breathe, who they are, what they do. Everything. Head to toe, inside out. Everything. “Body and Soul.”
